AMPK-mediated inhibition of mTORC2 leads to increased SOCS5 expression, which represses STAT6 to hamper GATA3-induced Th2 differentiation and allergy exacerbation. In this context, AMPK activators, chlorogenic acid and AICAR, phosphorylate Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), altering the equilibrium between Acetyl-CoA and Malonyl-CoA, which subsequently impacts the activity of CPT-1.
